Printmaking Fun July 11, morning session Each day students will explore different printmaking techniques, such as block printing, monotype, transfers, collagraphs, and stencils. We will look at artists from Picasso to Hokusai for inspiration. Materials that will be experimented with include styrofoam, cardboard, cellophane, and tinfoil to name a few. Join us as we use new printmaking skills to make t-shirts, collages, illustrations, and more.


Animal Art July 11, afternoon session Each day students will explore how to depict different animals using a variety of mediums. We will look at artists, such as Frida Kahlo and Henri Rousseau known for exploring the animal world. Mediums that will be experimented with include watercolor, charcoal, and ink to name a few. Join us as we draw and paint adorable, fearsome, and fantastical animals.


Sculpture - Fun in 3D July 18, morning session Each day students will experiment with a variety of ways to create form. We will look at artists from Augusta Savage to Yayoi Kusama for inspiration. Materials that will be experimented with include recycled materials, found objects, model magic, and clay to name a few. Join us as we explore form and structure.


Drawing, Painting, Collage July 18, afternoon session Each day students will have the option of medium from drawing, painting, or collage. Students will be given a prompt to explore. We will look at a variety of artists for inspiration. Materials that will be experimented with include graphite, tempera paint, and recycled materials, to name a few. Join us as we create beautiful works of art in a variety of mediums.


Fabulous Fiber Arts July 25, morning session Each day students will explore different Fiber Arts techniques, such as weaving, batiking, crochet, and felting. We will look at artists from Faith Ringgold to Meredith Woolnough for inspiration. Mediums that will be experimented with include fabric, yarn, and other natural materials. Join us to create a fiber masterpiece!



Cartooning Coolness July 25, afternoon session. Each day students will look at various cartoon styles. We will look at classic Disney to manga for inspiration. Students will draw themselves as the superhero their cartoon world.






Nature Art Journaling August 1, morning session Each day students will discover unexpected natural treasures right in our backyards and practice our art skills at the same time. We will use a variety of mixed media supplies to develop our nature journal pages. Mediums that will be experimented with include printmaking, graphite, watercolor, and marker. Join us as we creatively document the natural world around.




Heads Up - Portraits and Proportions August 1, afternoon session Each day students will work on different styles of art to create portraits and self-portraits. For inspiration, we will look at artists such as Van Gogh and Wiley famous for their self-portraits and portraits. Materials that will be experimented with include graphite, colored pencil, and pastel to name a few. Join us as we create expressive portraits.



Fantasy Fun August 8, morning session Each day students will explore themes around fantasy. They will be given a prompt and instruction on characteristics of the genre. Materials that will be experimented with include marker, colored pencil, and pastel to name a few. Join us as we dive into the world of fantasy.





Art Around the World August 8, afternoon session Each day students will explore a different cultural art activity from a different country. We will look at artists all over the world for inspiration. Materials that will be experimented with include styrofoam, model magic, and tinfoil to name a few. Join us as we explore art around the world.

  • Weekly themed art programs, Monday–Friday, morning session is 8:00 AM - 11:30AM, afternoon session is 12:00–3:30pm.

  • You can register for one or more weeks

  • Classes are taught by an experienced teaching artist who holds a BFA and M.Ed. in Arts and Education.

  • Classes are mostly indoors in the air-conditioned studio barn or occasionally outside under a tent depending on the class and weather for the day.

  • If students are signed up for both morning and afternoon sessions, they can stay for lunch without further payment. Lunch will not be provided. Please bring snacks for half day sessions and lunch for whole day.

  • The Art Barn Studio will be following current Massachusetts recommended guidelines for Covid-19 Health and Safety standards.
